Review
This review applies to version 1.7
The latest version of this software will soon be reviewed by our
informers.
VisualSVN Server is a subversion server to be used with Visual Studio.
This Subversion Server offers management and administration for teams that work with Visual Studio projects. It can be used with any subversion client, even its own VisualSVN client or a free version like TortoiseSVN. Its installation process is easy to perform, and from this early stage it offers to configure connectivity information, installation path, repositories location and server port if changes are necessary. Also, secure connection (https://) and authentication mode can be chosen.
It allows to create and manage repositories, or import already created repositories. It offers management of Users and Groups. It shows the server status and address all the time (the address SVN clients must use to connect to the server). Privileges for users/groups can be changed in the repository properties window. The server's console can be customized by selecting or clearing the check corresponding boxes to show or hide items.
The server's GUI is easy and friendly; setting up the server is not hard. I guess I can rightfully say it's a one-click server. Its documentation is not included with the software, but you can find some on its website.
VisualSVN Server works on Windows XP/2003 platforms. |
- Easy to manage.
- Free (however, there is an Enterprise version with more features).
